MAGICAL COP AU you are a cop. you're also magical. the two are not unrelated: while wizards are not particularly common, someone's got to make sure that the arm of the law extends also to the supernatural, and that's where you (and your partner?!) come in. whether it's chasing down rogue wizards, making peace between supernatural entities, or interrogating ghosts that have witnessed crime, getting coffee or a pint at the pub after hours, you have your hands full. just don't make too many wand jokes, keep property damage to a minimum, and don't forget to do the paperwork at the end of the day. an AU inspired by the rivers of london series by ben aaronovitch

[ Ohhh, that look was something. It made Bob just grin even further and appreciate why Harry seemed so fond of her. Bob was almost starting to think she might be somewhat capable of surviving in their world. At least longer than any old joe off the street. ]

I guess you could call it an elephant on the rampage, when there are giants out there in the world. [ He was so helpful, wasn't he? At that point, the drink he had ordered from the bar had arrived and he took it up to take a sip. Unlike his "friend," Bob liked his "girly" drinks: fruity, brightly colored, and everything. ]

Okay, long story short- you might lose a good chunk of the state. Might seem catastrophic on a national level, but like I said- there are bigger and badder options out there.

[ Her eyebrows drew down, and she gave him a speculating look. ]

Is there any remote chance that we could open a portal and leave the depends-on-how-you-look-at-it big thing to be Nevernever's problem, for once? They do seem somewhat more likely to be able to look at such problems in perspective.

Creative idea, but the power you'd need for that would require a god, and unless you wanna go around calling up ol' One-Eye or his ilk, that means it's out of the question. [ But this was where Bob was a scaredy cat; he wanted nothing to do with the higher powers, other than when it involved getting information. And even then, that risked getting him killed. ]

There is oooone teensy possible option, however. It'll cost you a date, should you succeed. [ At which, Bob innocently took his drink up again and took a sip. ]
