MAGICAL COP AU you are a cop. you're also magical. the two are not unrelated: while wizards are not particularly common, someone's got to make sure that the arm of the law extends also to the supernatural, and that's where you (and your partner?!) come in. whether it's chasing down rogue wizards, making peace between supernatural entities, or interrogating ghosts that have witnessed crime, getting coffee or a pint at the pub after hours, you have your hands full. just don't make too many wand jokes, keep property damage to a minimum, and don't forget to do the paperwork at the end of the day. an AU inspired by the rivers of london series by ben aaronovitch

[Petre would be one of those entities, placed on your world to cause a little bit of chaos. He can be reasoned with as long as you give him something nice, though, so he'd be the one to go to for information and resources you probably can't get through the proper channels.

Just buy him a drink and he'll get you started.]

[ Erik's a cop and one of the wizards, but there's more to him than his colleagues now. in truth he's working undercover for the supernatural so they can one day take over the world and you know, the usual. he tries to find out about the crimes beforehand so he can warn those involved. the more free supernatural entities out there, the better. whether Petre knows he's a dirty cop or not is up to yooou. ]

[ and he's buying him a drink. ]

Bartender. The usual for me and whatever he's having.

[Oh, hey. If it isn't one of Petre's favorite cops. There's a smirk ready for Erik when he sits by his side, earning a passing glance before he nods agreeably at the bartender. Everybody knows Petre's a frequent customer by now - where else would a demon be served so well?]

Nice to see an old friend.

[uberlegenheit]

[ he respects both Petre's business and his talents. it would be great to have him on their side. he pays for the drinks before replying to the guy next to him. ]

I knew I'd find you here.

[broil]

I knew you really cared.

[STALKER. No not really.]

[ he cares more than most people. cares too much. he raises his drink in a cheer once they're brought in front of them. to long health and supernaturals taking over the world. ]

I was hoping you could help me with something, Petre.

[ it's rather obvious what information he is after. there is talk of a rogue wizard no one has been able to hunt down yet. ]

[broil]

Anything for you, Erik, you know that.

[He says so with a shrug, not quite mocking him as much as he's just keeping things light in his tone. It's his turn to cheer along with Erik's glass, bring it to his lips for a healthy swig.]

What do you need?

The location of a certain man. I wish to talk to him.

[ raises the glass to his lips. ]

In private.

Is that all you wish to do?

[arched brows.]

That is between him and me.

[ you know how it is. or not. ]

Come on. You know I hate it when you keep secrets from me.

[ alright then. don't get your panties in a twist. ]

I may have a suggestion for him. It all depends on if he wants to hear it or not. What do you think?

I think he's not that smart.

[And he thinks that he'd really like to get to watch that show. Erik's tricks always end up being spectacularly sadistic.]

Which is why I'm going to help you.

He's smart enough to stay hidden.

[ but apparently not clever enough to stay hidden from Petre. then again that requires special talent. he smiles a little. negotiations with him don't always go smoothly. ]

[He leans his chin in his fist, eying Erik with lazy eyes.]

What do you know?

I know the man has a fondness for ships. One of our men spotted him in the harbor two days ago. The tracks were cold by the time I got there.

[ that why he's in a hurry and desperate enough to come to Petre. if the man has found himself a vessel it's going to be a lot harder to track him down. ]

Would you agree?

[broil]

Your man's a liar, Erik. He hasn't been in town for weeks.

[He arches his brows at that. Who would've thought, right, someone feeding them false information.]

He got himself a shifter.

[A logical conclusion, he supposes. Someone to pose as him so he can throw off the authorities while he's elsewhere getting on with his shady business.]

Clever. I'll have to give him that.

[ but not clever enough. naturally he'll want to know the identity of the shifter too. one can never have enough of those. ]

Our man will be devastated to learn that.

[ worked so hard too, poor boo. Erik's not going to tell him anything though. it's good if the suspicions of the police lay elsewhere. ]

[broil]

You'll make sure of that, won't you.

[That he'll be utterly devastated. Erik's never been one to let liars go unpunished. But Petre always expects the worst.]

Need some company to go check him out?

If you're offering.

[ hanging out with Petre might one day lead to him joining their cause so why not. ]

I might know a place, then.

[He takes another swig of his drink, lets it down heavily.]

Busy tonight?

If we go after him I'll be technically working all night.

[ finishes his drink. ]

I'm surprised you don't have other plans. Did someone cancel?

[ and die while doing so. ]

[u silly. he leans his face on his hand.]

I never have plans.
