[ He's sorry in advance, Nat, but of all the people to be fake married to for a mission, he's pretty sure he's probably the worst. It was bad enough in the Apple store, and he's not sure if he can do much better than that, but at the very least this time there was some prep. He's worked out a back story better, he knows what he's rolling with this time around.

[ Let's elope, brave hero!

Or something like that. Good ol' Aerith, last of her race, once dead and now in outer space Marvel land, is absolutely great with parties. She knows how to flirt, she knows enough dance moves, and she's excellent at keeping people entertained-- for the most part. She's also quite adept at selling her role-- which in this case, happens to be the blushing bride of one Peter Quill. Why? There's probably something worth stealing at this party, let's go with that, and she's helping him out. After all, she could use some protection for the evening. Even after cheating death, it just seems that she cannot escape all sorts of pursuers wanting to use her for her planet-speaking magics. Tough luck!

All of that aside, she's positively beaming, holding his arm, making up some story about the first date they went on (she slips in teasing comments about it, too) to a pair of grizzly looking aliens who probably find it quite cute, if they knew anything about Terran courting rituals. She's remembered to slip on a ring just for the occasion, but probably shouldn't have bothered if she knew everyone here would be so... different.

Peter might have more experience with this than her, oops. ]

So anyway, as I was saying-- we're here for the honeymoon. Isn't that right?

[Admittedly this isn’t, technically, the weirdest thing they have been through.

It’s actually pretty tame for WICKED: there are no monsters being thrown at them, no maze, no struggling to survive day by day and figure out the meaning of it all. Honestly, pretending to be married to his best friend ranks pretty low on the scale of horribleness. No one is getting hurt, no one is suffering and everyone gets to have a meal each day.

Which is why they are stuck like this. As long as they are doing this, as long as long as they keep on faking the test is going just as they expected and they aren’t pulled outside, as long as they don’t figure out something went wrong with the devices in their head and they have gotten most of their memories back… things will stay like this. And that’s a good thing.

So why is this whole situation putting him on edge? Why does he feel like something’s wrong, like something isn’t like it shouldn’t be?]

[It's not Steve's fault. Mostly. It's just that, well, the princess on the run from her usurped kingdom in some magical pocket dimension (Steve tries not to ask too many questions about how that last part works, not because he can't handle the mental gymnastics necessary but because it leads to long, circular discussions about the nature of reality) couldn't seem to take the hint that he wasn't interested in her, so it had seemed more expedient to lie and claim he was already spoken for. Married, in fact, because anything less just didn't require a bond of fidelity the princess would respect.

Married to Sif, because Steve didn't trust even supposed marriage vows to stop Her Highness, but a wife inclined to stab her enemies might just do the trick.

So far it's worked, but then it's also only been about an hour. The princess is still a little too close for comfort, as if pouting and heaving dramatic sighs will make Steve change his mind. He's going to need Sif to show up herself at this rate.]

[ Things in NYC were actually going fantastic. Isaac wasn't loving the cold weather that was rapidly approaching (he was always cold anyway) but he bundled up, bought more sweaters from Grandpas R Us and was actually kind of thriving there. He had a job as a busboy in a little cafe not far from the apartment he shared with Kate.

He was even trying to help Kate out with the superhero thing.

Okay, he doesn't really understand that part, but Kate had said they were going to be fake!married and he doesn't think it's such a bad situation to find himself in, so he goes along with it.
